Lisbon’s City Scale Digital Twins for Flood Resilience

Rapid urbanization combined with climate-related challenges leads to increased flood risks and soil imperviousness. For the city of Lisbon, existing drainage infrastructure was inadequate, and extreme weather events posed threats to lives, property, and infrastructure. Thus, the government of Lisbon aimed to create a Digital Twin for urban flood simulation using real-time data and GIS technology to optimise drainage infratructure.
