    Project Details

    In preparation for EXPO 2020, Dubai embarked on constructing the EXPO facilities and an extension to its rapid transit rail system, known as EXPOlink 2020. Jacobs was entrusted with delivering and commissioning EXPOlink 2020, with a mandate to incorporate flood risk analysis into the design process. Due to Dubai's rapid urbanization and lack of drainage infrastructure planning, urban flooding during heavy rainfall has become a significant concern. Jacobs needed to integrate projected flood levels into the design of EXPO facilities and EXPOlink 2020 to mitigate infrastructure damage and ensure visitor safety. A 2D hydraulic model using Flood Modeller was selected to analyze complex flow patterns in the urban environment within a tight timeframe.
