    Project Details

Carbonix, a prominent Australian UAV manufacturer, collaborated with a power utility company to address the challenges of vegetation encroachment and structural analytics of transmission and distribution lines. The mission targeted a 100-kilometer stretch of powerlines spread across undulating terrain, where manual inspection and traditional surveying methods proved time-consuming and inefficient. Carbonix deployed its Volanti RPAS equipped with the YellowScan Mapper+ OEM sensor to achieve high-resolution LiDAR scans, capturing intricate details of the powerlines and surrounding vegetation.

The project aimed to generate precise analytics on pole and wire conditions and identify encroaching vegetation for efficient management. By leveraging lightweight UAV technology and advanced LiDAR systems, Carbonix completed the data acquisition in just three days, processing the results within two days. The mission provided actionable insights that helped the power utility prioritize vegetation clearing and ensure powerline safety.
