    Project Details

The National Institute of Geographic and Forest Information (IGN), France, has taken a pivotal role in advancing the objectives of France Nation Verte (France Green Nation), particularly under the ‘digital and data’ axis. This initiative aims to resolve data fragmentation by identifying critical issues and defining clear, actionable strategies focused on digital services, data, and platforms to drive the ecological transition. IGN has contributed actively by co-leading thematic working groups targeting renewable energy potential, natural resource preservation beyond biodiversity, and coastline management. Among its concrete deliverables are the Renewable Energy Mapping Portal, which helps local authorities assess and define renewable energy development areas, and the Observatory of French Forests, which enriches statistical and geospatial data to support national and local public policy decisions. Together, these digital platforms improve access, accuracy, and practical use of geospatial data, ensuring better-informed ecological planning and sustainable development.
