    Project Details

An engineering company in northern Chile sought to reactivate a mine site by creating a detailed master plan that addressed critical challenges such as road construction, collapse-prone areas, and protective structures. This required a high-quality topographical survey of 1000-1100 hectares at an altitude of 5000m. SCS Equipos, renowned for their expertise in Layer Control and advanced survey solutions, was tasked with the mission.

The project involved combining photogrammetry using a Phantom 4 RTK for a preliminary Digital Elevation Model (DEM) and advanced LiDAR technology with the YellowScan Surveyor system for high-accuracy mapping. Despite challenging terrain and extreme altitude, SCS Equipos executed 84 flights over two weeks to acquire precise data, achieving an average point density of 90 points per square meter with an accuracy of less than 2cm. The final deliverables included contour lines at a scale of 1:500 and high-resolution terrain models, praised as the best topography data the client had ever received.
