    Project Details

Amidst the dynamic geological landscape of the Caribbean Netherlands, the Royal Netherlands Meteorological Institute (KNMI) led a project focused on meticulously monitoring volcanic and ionospheric activity. Leveraging solutions such as GNSS receivers, seismometers, and temperature sensors, alongside strategic collaborations with the Italian National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology (INGV), this initiative aimed to provide real-time insights into the region's volcanic behavior and space weather dynamics. By establishing a robust monitoring network across the islands of Saba and St. Eustatius, KNMI strove to enhance early warning capabilities, contribute to scientific research, and bolster disaster resilience in the Caribbean Netherlands.
