GIS-Led Business Process Transformation for Accelerated Fibre Network Deployment in Northern Ireland

Source: Esri
In 2019, Fibrus initiated a digital transformation project to modernize the deployment and management of full fibre broadband infrastructure. When awarded the Project Stratum contract by the Northern Ireland Executive tasked with delivering high-speed internet to 85,000 rural homes, the need for rapid digital enablement became paramount. Fibrus adopted Esri’s ArcGIS platform to build an integrated digital ecosystem for the end-to-end lifecycle of fibre network planning, build, and maintenance. This replaced legacy paper-based workflows with collaborative, cloud-based solutions.
Designs from multiple partners were consolidated in ArcGIS Pro, standardized visually, and deployed via ArcGIS Hub for seamless access. Field teams used ArcGIS Field Maps to record builds, report issues, and track changes in real time, while ArcGIS Dashboards provided managers with live project analytics to track KPIs and milestones. The approach not only improved internal operations but also gave external stakeholders and government clients direct access to real-time data and progress monitoring.
