GIS-enabled Journey of City of Loveland to Establish a Fiber Utility Network

Source: Esri
In early 2018, the City of Loveland embarked on the journey to establish a fiber utility, known as Pulse. After fulfilling preliminary requirements, including securing voter approval and conducting multiple city council studies, Loveland focused on selecting design and construction vendors. Recognizing the crucial role of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) in supporting various aspects of the utility's lifecycle—from engineering and analysis to maintenance and customer support—the city opted for Esri. Leveraging Esri's existing support for the city's utilities and comprehensive resources, the decision was straightforward. Construction for the new utility commenced in early 2020, and within a year, it began serving numerous customers, experiencing rapid growth.
