    Project Details

The Head Office of Geodesy and Cartography (GUGiK) in Poland launched an advanced upgrade of geoportal.gov.pl, significantly expanding the reach, usability, and impact of official geospatial data services. In 2021, the platform attracted nearly 10 million users, marking a 25% increase from 2020, and facilitated the download of 605 TB of open spatial data, nearly doubling previous levels. The portal integrates dispersed geospatial datasets through WMS technology, offering citizens, researchers, and policymakers’ seamless access to spatial data. By incorporating QGIS plug-ins and electronic geodetic documentation submission, the portal modernizes data access while reducing paperwork. Furthermore, GUGiK collaborated internationally via the EU Twinning project, training Moldovan authorities and private sector professionals to align with EU standards. Nationally, the initiative streamlined legal regulations by reducing 80% of geodetic and cartographic legislative volume, improving administrative efficiency.
