    Project Details

The Forest Management Institute (FMI) in the Czech Republic, responsible for centralizing national forest data, particularly forest inventories, encompasses an area of over 70,000 square kilometers. Unprecedented bark beetle outbreaks in Europe and North America, driven by factors like rising temperatures and disease spread, are causing devastating damage to forests. The outbreaks pose a significant threat to forest ecosystems and necessitate effective monitoring and management. PlanetScope's daily imaging, high resolution, and cloud-free coverage allowed FMI to detect and monitor outbreaks on a localized level, aiding in early pest detection and mitigation efforts.
