Under the Geo3D strategy (2023–2026), the Estonian Land Board has developed a new 3D Geology web application that extends traditional 3D mapping beyond above ground features to include the underground environment. The application prototype currently combines LOD2 buildings, multiple terrain models, including Digital Elevation Model (DEM), sedimentary bedrock relief, and crystalline basement relief and detailed geological data such as subsurface successions, cylindrical boreholes, and geotechnical sites visualised as extrusions. By integrating geological expertise with visible world representation, the service supports underground spatial planning, mineral exploration, mine planning, and environmental monitoring. The project builds on earlier 3D mapping efforts from 2021 and is continuously evolving with new data layers and functionalities.
