Enhancing Workplace Safety at Owatonna Public Utilities using GIS

Owatonna Public Utilities (OPU) serves approximately 10,000 customers in southern Minnesota with electric, natural gas, and water services. Safety is a core value at OPU, with a focus on employee and community well-being. To ensure workplace safety, staff conduct job site safety briefings adhering to industry standards. However, recording safety briefings on paper forms stored in supervisors' trucks posed challenges of time consumption, storage limitations, and restricted accessibility. To enhance safety and transparency, OPU opted to digitize the process.
