In response to the rapid growth in open data users, ten times higher since the Cadastral Map was made publicly available, Kadaster (The Netherlands’ Cadastre, Land Registry and Mapping Agency) launched a new feature that clearly communicates the reliability of visualised parcel boundaries. Recognising that the map is widely used for orientation rather than exact measurement, Kadaster developed quality labels that transparently show the accuracy of each boundary compared to real-world surveyed data. By designing an algorithm to automatically assign these labels using existing cadastral data, Kadaster ensures that every boundary displayed on the Public Services on the Map platform (www.pdok.nl) carries an easily understandable indicator of its precision. This empowers professional and non-professional users alike to better interpret the data’s purpose and reliability.
