    Project Details

The Morning Star Company, the largest tomato processor globally, faced persistent challenges in California's tomato cultivation sector, including water scarcity, nutrient deficiencies, and soil degradation exacerbated by climate change. Collaborating with Gradient, a precision agritech company, the firm adopted EOSDA Crop Monitoring to enhance tomato production across 112,000 acres of farmland. This integrated approach leveraged satellite imagery, in-ground sensors, and advanced analytics to optimize irrigation, monitor crop health, and improve yields.

Gradient provided growers with a unified platform that combined volumetric soil moisture data, NDVI (Normalized Difference Vegetation Index) imagery, and plant stress indicators. Periodic insights into irrigation needs and nutrient application enabled growers to reduce water usage by 10-15% and achieve impressive yields, such as 65 tons per acre for first-year growers. With customized field zoning and predictive analytics, the partnership facilitated efficient decision-making and a seamless grower experience.
