Atkins Global and Storm Geomatics undertook a project to address bank slippage and erosion at Springwater Park, Bury, along the River Irwell. The steep banks and dense vegetation required a comprehensive survey approach, using high-definition LiDAR, multibeam echo sounding, UAV drone surveys, and traditional topographic methods. Storm Geomatics utilized an unmanned survey vessel and collaborated with Geoterra for UAV LiDAR surveys. The collected data were integrated into a seamless digital elevation model and visualized via the GISGRO portal. This detailed model facilitates ongoing monitoring and management of the park's environmental health, showcasing the effective use of geospatial technologies in addressing complex environmental issues.
