Harris County Flood Control District (HCFCD) in collaboration with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and CivilTech, aimed to reduce flood risks and enhance environmental resilience along the 31-mile stretch of Brays Bayou. Through innovative engineering solutions, geospatial technologies, and community engagement, the project fortifies infrastructure while preserving ecological integrity. It encompasses structurally intensive channel improvements and ADA-compliant pedestrian access routes, striking a balance between flood control and recreational enhancement.
This project is a comprehensive effort to safeguard communities and ecosystems, fostering sustainable growth in Harris County, Texas. The Harris County Flood Control District used GIS, GPS, and LiDAR to create a 3D model of the Brays Bayou federal flood control structures. The model was used to assess the condition of the structures and plan for future maintenance and repairs.
