    Project Details

The Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare Department of Odisha faced a significant challenge in ensuring accurate food support distribution to its poorest citizens. The Minimum Support Price (MSP) system, designed to protect farmers from price drops, was undermined by self-reported land cultivation claims, leading to misallocation of public funds. To address this, a Geo-ICT solution was implemented using high-resolution satellite data from PlanetScope, integrated with land cadaster information. Partnering with ORSAC and SPARC India, the department conducted a detailed analysis to validate paddy crop claims, aiming to filter out false reports and provide transparency in the MSP system.
