    Project Details

In response to the 2017 flooding crisis in Ottawa and Montreal, Canada's Department of National Defense collaborated with Iridium Partner T24 Defense to enhance disaster response coordination. Leveraging Iridium Connected® T24 Whisper devices, the project aimed to track assets and personnel efficiently. The solution utilized Iridium Short Burst Data® (SBD®) for real-time tracking and emergency communication. With 2,600 military personnel, 400 vehicles, and various assets monitored, the project facilitated timely deployment and strategic decision-making. This initiative significantly bolstered Operation LENTUS, enabling the evacuation of hundreds of residents and safeguarding critical infrastructure. Through seamless communication and tracking capabilities, the project showcased the pivotal role of geospatial technology in optimizing disaster response efforts and protecting communities during crises.
