Road weather information system (RWIS) deployment is frequently prohibitively expensive. This results in blanket salting techniques that are expensive, ineffective, and harmful to the environment.

Frost Control Systems (FCS) needed to come up with a more economical way to help local municipalities around the country achieve the necessary level of efficiency at a lesser cost. To accomplish these objectives, FCS built an infrared sensor network that is linked to and managed by u-blox IoT Communication-as-a-Service.
