Emley Moor Tower, also known as Arqiva Tower, stands as the tallest freestanding structure in the UK, broadcasting digital television and radio signals across a vast area. Recognizing the critical need for efficient inspection and maintenance, Arqiva enlisted the services of RSK Orbital in June 2016 to conduct an external survey of the tower. Leveraging Pix4D software, RSK Orbital embarked on a pioneering project to capture comprehensive aerial data and reconstruct the tower in 3D. This innovative approach enabled precise inspection of small patches and cracks while mitigating the risks associated with traditional methods, ultimately enhancing safety and operational efficiency.
