    Project Details

This project, initiated by Ana Jantoš, a GIS student from the University of Science in Zagreb, aimed to revolutionize vineyard management using GIS technology. By creating an interactive online database and spatially mapped vineyard, the project addressed key challenges in vine inventory, health monitoring, and decision-making.

Using a drone, aerial imagery of a 0.5-hectare vineyard with over 2,000 vines was captured and georeferenced. The imagery served as a base layer in GIS Cloud's Map Editor, where individual vines were mapped with associated attributes such as species, health, planting year, and pruning records. Custom forms enabled the collection of comprehensive data directly in the field through the Mobile Data Collection (MDC) app.

Additional map layers identified potential planting areas and included cadastral data for enhanced land management. A branded Map Portal allowed the visualization and sharing of data with stakeholders, reducing paperwork, saving time, and streamlining processes. The system also provided tools for analyzing spatial patterns, such as suitable areas for vine expansion and production trends over time.
