Skeye and Fugro Maps collaborated on conducting an aerial topographic survey using a fixed-wing UAV in the desert south of Abu Dhabi, UAE, covering an area of approximately 15km2 consisting of sand dunes. The purpose of the survey was to support future industrial development planning. Permission was obtained from the UAE General Civil Aviation Authorities to operate the UAV equipped with a camera over the designated area. Skeye chose the Hawk-Eye fixed-wing aircraft with a white body to mitigate component overheating during the survey, crucial in extreme temperatures reaching up to 68 degrees Celsius.
