The Public Works Department of the City of Berkeley has evolved over the course of its more than a century-long existence to meet the needs of a growing city. One of the City's projects is the Adopt-A-Traffic Circle program, whose success depends on volunteers and was born out of the combined efforts of City staff and a community task force called the traffic circle task force. With the aid of a traffic circle management center based on geographic information systems, the City of Berkeley, California, is sponsoring a volunteer program.
