Denmark’s Cross-Sector Data Integration for Climate Action and Utility Efficiency

Source: Inc42
The Agency for Data Supply and Efficiency (SDFE), under Denmark’s Climate Act, has spearheaded cross-sectoral digital initiatives that extend beyond geospatial data into energy, utilities, and building efficiency domains. By integrating core geospatial data with sector-specific datasets, SDFE enables new digital instruments to tackle pressing societal challenges such as climate change and sustainable resource use. In 2020, the Utility Portal was launched in partnership with the Ministry of Climate, Energy and Utility, consolidated key data on electricity distribution, water utility, and technical data on energy-producing units, with more datasets to be added later. This helped enhance transparency, build efficiency, and propel innovation. Similarly, the Building Hub was established to bring together information on building energy consumption, construction details, and weather data, empowering citizens, businesses, and authorities to drive efficiency improvements.
