    Project Details

The Moraga-Orinda Fire District (MOFD) covers the East San Francisco Bay area, which includes a mix of residential zones, natural parks, schools, and a highway. MOFD has been a leader in early fire detection innovation in California and the United States. This pilot program, funded by the Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation, aimed to create a unified and autonomous system for collecting and integrating wildfire data. It sought to connect ground fire sensors to an automated system that could rapidly obtain high-resolution satellite imagery from Planet, enabling the early detection of wildfires in their initial stages.
