    Project Details

TruePoint Laser Scanning was tasked with providing detailed 3D laser scanning and modeling services for a power plant in Ann Arbor, Michigan. This plant plays a crucial role in generating and processing steam, electricity, compressed air, and domestic hot water. The objective was to conduct an as-built survey of the entire five-level building, including the basement, exterior facades, rooftops, electrical switch gear rooms, vaults, and interstitial spaces below the control room. The plant’s extensive network of piping, conduits, and structural components, particularly those as small as ½ inch in diameter, required precise documentation. TruePoint utilized multiple Leica laser scanners to capture over 1,200 scans, providing a comprehensive digital representation of the plant. The scans were meticulously processed to create a detailed 3D model in Bentley MicroStation, covering all civil, structural, electrical, and mechanical elements.
