Coastal Water Quality Management: Predictive Modelling for Safer Recreational Waters in Auckland

Effluent release into and pollution of urban waterbodies leads to public health risks and a reduction in the opportunity for recreational purposes. Therefore, safe discharging becomes necessary. A comprehensive water quality forecast model was established for central Waitematā Harbour, supported by a 3D hydrodynamic model. This model predicted water quality and assessed potential risks for recreational activities along central Auckland beaches, spanning from Point Chevalier to St Heliers Bay.
