The Blominmäki wastewater treatment plant is the replacement of the Suomenoja wastewater treatment plant in a new location: Blominmäki, Espoo. It can treat wastewater from around 400,000 people and generate excess thermal energy. The plant utilizes biogas from digesters for electricity and composts sludge into the soil. The goal is to remove over 96% of phosphorus and organic matter and over 90% of nitrogen from wastewater.
