    Project Details

Bell Aliant, Canada's premier fibre optic service provider, aimed to expand its FibreOP technology to over 650,000 customers by the end of 2012. Fibre to the Premises (FTTP) represents an advanced connectivity solution, transmitting signals straight from the provider to residential buildings via fibre optic cables. This technology, in contrast to conventional telephone lines, leverages light for the transmission of internet and TV signals, resulting in markedly higher transmission speeds and enhanced performance.

As a trailblazer in Canada's telecommunications industry, Bell Aliant pioneered the establishment of an entirely fibre optic network, encompassing an entire city and facilitating direct home connections. The implementation of Geospatial Information Systems (GIS) technology was a strategic move, yielding benefits such as decreased engineering timeframes and augmented data precision. This approach led to a significant expansion in the network's reach, with an additional 156,000 premises being incorporated into the service area within the first six months of the rollout.
