    Project Details

BASF’s Antwerp facility, the largest chemical production site in Belgium, faced challenges in managing vast amounts of operational data and infrastructure spanning 600 hectares. To transform its site into a smart facility, BASF implemented Hexagon’s Luciad portfolio to create a digital twin of the site. The digital twin integrates 25 years of CAD schematics, data from 360 miles of underground pipelines, real-time sensor data, aerial imagery, and LiDAR to create a dynamic operational picture. The system provides real-time situational awareness to various departments, enabling teams such as fire brigades, operations managers, and external contractors to visualize critical assets, weather data, emergency vehicle locations, and site tasks. Through this solution, BASF achieved significant improvements in site safety, operational efficiency, and cost reductions, with detailed site mapping and integrated real-time data enhancing every aspect of facility management.
