    Project Details

Illegal logging poses a significant environmental and economic challenge in Chile, leading to substantial losses and degradation of forested areas. To combat this issue, a centralized AI-based platform was developed in partnership with NV5 Geospatial to provide real-time and near-real-time monitoring of forest conditions. The solution uses satellite data from the European Space Agency’s Copernicus program, specifically Sentinel-1 SAR data and Sentinel-2 multispectral data, to detect and analyze deforestation activities. This choice of data sources allows for frequent revisits and the ability to gather information under various weather conditions, including at night and through cloud cover. ENVI and ENVI SARscape analytics are hosted on ENVI Inform to process historical and new satellite data, creating a comprehensive baseline for forest conditions.
