L’Avion Jaune, a renowned player in geomatics and environmental management in France, undertook a critical study to model the hydrographic network and hydraulic functioning of a wetland within a nature reserve in New Aquitaine. The primary goal was to identify development opportunities for wetland restoration and improve its resilience to climate change impacts. This project aimed to overcome the limitations of existing national data (RGE Alti, LiDAR HD) by deploying a specialized LiDAR survey to capture the intricate hydrographic network concealed beneath dense forest canopies and herbaceous vegetation.
Using the YellowScan Voyager, L’Avion Jaune mapped approximately 1000 hectares of dense forest and wetlands, producing a high-quality digital terrain model (DTM) that enabled detailed hydraulic modeling. This data provided unprecedented insights into the wetland's drainage ditches, network of ponds, and overall hydrographic structure, supporting sustainable environmental management and restoration planning.
