Advancing Urban Sustainability through High-Resolution Aerial Mapping for Green Infrastructure Optimization

Gentian, a technology start-up, utilizes high-resolution aerial photography from Bluesky International Ltd. to develop an artificial intelligence platform. This platform automatically identifies and records green roofs and green infrastructure in UK cities. The aim is to combat climate change, enhance biodiversity, and achieve local and global net-zero targets. Through machine learning algorithms, Gentian can distinguish between different types of green roofs and assess their potential for retrofit projects or inclusion in new developments. Completed pilot projects have been carried out in London and for the Greater Manchester Combined Authority.
