Advancing Reliability: EPCOR's Risk-Based Asset Management Initiative

EPCOR Utilities, headquartered in Edmonton, Alberta, operates electric, water, and natural gas utilities across Canada and the southern United States. With a vast electric distribution system serving over 400,000 customers and over 200,000 assets, EPCOR faced challenges of aging infrastructure and increasing outages. To address this, EPCOR initiated a project to implement a risk-based asset management strategy, leveraging Bentley's AssetWise software suite. The project involved conducting a health assessment of assets, developing failure probability curves, and establishing an asset health index to prioritize assets for proactive intervention and lifecycle replacement.
