    Project Details

Organic Valley farmers adhere to USDA requirements by ensuring that their cows obtain a minimum of 30% of their feed through in-pasture grazing. They employ intensive rotational grazing, frequently moving their herds to different sections of perennial pastures to maintain high-quality forage. Organic Valley sought a more efficient way to measure pasture utilization to support its farmers. In 2021, a pilot program leveraging Planet's satellite imagery to monitor pasture health on their dairy farms was conducted. This program provides participating farmers with near-daily reports aimed at enhancing dairy herd nutrition, preserving and enhancing pastures, and combating climate change.
