    Project Details

The Diamond Vista Wind Farm in Salina, Kansas, situated in the heart of Tornado Alley and one of the United States' largest wheat-producing regions, required precise land surveys to facilitate the construction of its 95 wind turbines. The wind farm, expected to generate 1,300 gigawatts of clean energy, faced delays due to inaccurate terrain models that threatened to extend construction timelines by 4–6 weeks, causing costly delays for earthmoving equipment at $5,000–$7,000 per day.

Juniper Unmanned deployed its YellowScan Surveyor LiDAR system, remapping 8,800 hectares of rugged, vegetation-covered terrain in just three days. The advanced LiDAR system, mounted on drones, delivered data points at a density of 40–45 per square meter, enabling the creation of highly accurate Digital Terrain Models (DTMs) and Digital Surface Models (DSMs). This quick and precise survey allowed RES Americas, the EPC contractor, to restart earthmoving operations almost immediately, avoiding extensive delays and additional costs.
