    Project Details

The pilot project conducted by Satelytics and ACRT Pacific aimed to validate the use of high-resolution Pléiades 50cm satellite imagery in identifying individual trees at risk of striking electric transmission and distribution lines. Utilizing Satelytics' advanced vegetation encroachment algorithms, the project sought to enhance the efficiency and safety of utility vegetation management. By analysing stereo pairs of satellite images, the AI algorithms could pinpoint trees that posed potential risks, achieving up to 90% accuracy as confirmed by ACRT's field teams. This innovative approach not only identified 57,000 risky trees within a 10 square kilometer area but also enabled utility companies to proactively manage vegetation, thus preventing potential wildfires and ensuring the reliability of electric services.
