TruePoint was tasked with 3D laser scanning several molding presses within a production facility of an automotive supplier specializing in advanced composite materials. The objective was to document the as-built conditions and create a scan-to-BIM model, enabling the client to design automated loading and unloading systems for the presses. The scope included capturing the location, shape, and size of equipment such as presses and auxiliary equipment, the physical structure of the plant (floor, columns, beams, roof), fencing or guarding around equipment, and utilities like plumbing and electrical conduit.
